Why South Korean Universities Are Rising Stars for Malaysian Students

South Korea has rapidly emerged as one of Asia's most attractive study destinations, combining world-class academic institutions with a dynamic economy and rich cultural heritage. The country's top universities — Seoul National University (SNU), KAIST, and Yonsei University — consistently rank among the global top 50 in the QS World University Rankings.

For Malaysian students, South Korea offers a compelling value proposition: tuition fees at public universities are significantly lower than in Australia or the UK (typically KRW 4–9 million per semester, roughly MYR 13,000–30,000), and the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) provides full funding including tuition, living allowance, airfare, and Korean language training for selected international students.

South Korea's economy is the 13th largest in the world, driven by global giants like Samsung, Hyundai, LG, and SK Group. Graduates from Korean universities enjoy strong employment prospects both in Korea and internationally, particularly in technology, engineering, business, and creative industries. The D-10 Job-Seeking Visa allows international graduates to stay in Korea for up to 2 years after graduation to find employment.
